The only thing or drawback that I have noticed with the HP PMD is that even though it does have the small internal fan it appears to get a little warm for my preference and that concerns me as to how long it will last if installed all of the time; in fact one members review notes that his PMD enclosure malfunctioned while the HDD remained functunal; this may very well have been a result of the heat I have noted.

This unit is slightly smaller than an external GB drive I put together myself by purchasing a name brand external enclosure which is also constructed from an aluminum case and adding a drive I already had that is attractive and they come is several colors; mine is blue.

You should always click on the "safely remove hardware" icon in your tool tray or "notification area" and select the drive letter before physically removing the PMD.

But as I only use it to make a backup of critical files I do not leave it in the computer.
